Does Ferdinand deserve the title of "First European to Circumnavigate the World by Sea"?
This is a pondering question in any analytical person's mind. Does Magellan really deserve all the fame people today give him? The reason for this uncertainty is because Ferdinand never actually made it all the way around the world and back into Seville. He never actually even made it to the Spice Islands because he was killed in battle in Cebu, while fighting against Mactan. So why do people give him all of the credit for it? Why shouldn't the men who made it back alive be named the first people to circumnavigate the world?
